Winter Warmer Wednesday.

Our first Winter Warmer Wednesday takes place on the night of the Shrewsbury Christmas lights switch-on.

Gift stalls, cafes and bars will open up to 8pm with a festive flavour. Shoppers, who buy from one of the market’s retailers early on the night, will also receive a voucher for a complimentary homemade mince pie and a glass of mulled wine, served 5pm to 6pm (while stocks).

They’re back! It’s our next LATE NIGHT this coming Saturday (December 2). 🎉 Come and say hello to some new faces and some old faces who are returning for the late ones.

Joining the usual line-up of eateries and bars open late will be our new restaurant Morocco House & Tapas Cafe. And Moli Tea House will be back open late. A small selection of our fabulous retailers will also stay open, helping you crack some of those Christmas gift conundrums. 🎁

There’ll be distinctive festive vibes and flavours with bars open up to 10pm, eateries open up to 8/9pm and a selection of retail stalls open up ti 7/8pm. 🎄

Most eateries will be taking walk-ins only on the night, serving from 5.30/6pm. The only restaurant taking advance bookings for a 3-course set menu is @moreishshrew

@petit_glou wine bar/cafe is taking some advance reservations and will also take walk-ins on the night.

They did it and we’re so proud of them. Our late stallholder Will Dodd - proud dad, granddad and father-in-law - would be elated. Congratulations Claire, Matt, Victoria, Charlotte, Elizabeth and young Matt. They scaled Snowdon in trying conditions and smashed their fundraising target for the @sathcharity 🩷🩷🩷

They’d wanted to raise £1,000 towards a family effort to raise money for much-needed improvements to the ITU patient garden at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and their total currently stands at nearly £2,400.

Across 3 fundraising pages Will Dodd’s family has raised nearly £6,500. Please keep donations coming in. The ITU garden brings a lot of joy to some very ill patients and the groundworks, that the family is raising money for, will massively transform bed and wheelchair access. There’ll be new wheelchair access furniture too and other improvements.

FAMILY IN SPONSORED SNOWDON HIKE FOR HOSPITAL GARDEN IN MEMORY OF WILLIAM DODD.

Family members of long-serving market trader Will Dodd were today scaling Snowdon in a sponsored challenge to raise money for a patient garden at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in his memory.

The funds will pay for much-needed improved patient access to the garden of the hospital ITU ward. Will spent 11 weeks on the ward where he took comfort visiting the garden.

His daughter Claire Evans, son-in-law Matt, granddaughters Victoria, 22, Charlotte, 18, and Elizabeth, 15, and Victoria’s boyfriend Matt Handley, 21, are raising money to pay for improvements to the garden, including patient bed and wheelchair access.

The family originally planned their sponsored hike when Will was in hospital. He was meant to join them at the summit of Snowdon after his hoped for recovery.

“Dad was going to take the train up to the top of Snowdon and sit and have a beer while he waited for us. Sadly, that was not to be. After Dad died we said we would do the sponsored walk together as a family in his memory, said Claire.

The money will add to funds already raised by other members of William Dodd’s family. Last month Claire’s sister Lisa Marsden and her family raised more than £1,800 in a sponsored swim the equivalent of the width of the English Channel.
