With its commanding clock tower, the award winning Shrewsbury Market Hall stands proudly between Shoplatch and Claremont Street.

Access into the Market Hall

Shrewsbury Market Hall is located in the middle of Shrewsbury, nestled between the busy shopping streets of Claremont Street and Shoplatch. A secure rack for bicycle parking is available directly outside the Market Hall.

There are two public entrances, and a combination of staircases and public lifts serve the upper floor where there are public toilets. We’re sorry but with the exception of Guide Dogs, dogs are not allowed in the market. If you need assistance please speak to one of the site services staff.

Car

If you’re planning a road trip to Shrewsbury you will need to use the M54 / M6 network or the A49, A5, A53, A458 if approaching by A roads. There is plenty of parking in the centre of Shrewsbury.

Car parking

Shropshire Council car parks in Shrewsbury are priced in bands; the further from the centre of the town, the cheaper the car park. You can stay for as long as you want in the car parks or on-street and they are priced per hour. The largest car park closest to Shrewsbury Market Hall is Frankwell Riverside Car Park, Frankwell Quay, SY3 8HQ.

Pay and display on street parking is available on Claremont Street, and numerous pay and display car parks are available within a quarter mile radius, the nearest being Bridge Street Car Park.

Parking is free if a badge is displayed.

Park & Ride

There are three park and ride sites in Shrewsbury:

  • Harlescott – SY1 4HA, closes at midnight
  • Meole Brace – SY3 9NB, closes after the arrival of the last bus (around 6.40pm)
  • Oxon – SY3 5AD, closes after the arrival of the last bus (around 6.40pm)

Parking is free and the return bus fare costs £2.00 for adults, concessions are half price (with a senior citizen bus pass or Shrewsbury Sixth Form / Shrewsbury High School student card). Buses run every 20 minutes between 7.30am and 6.30pm (last bus departs from car park at 6.10pm) For more information on the park and ride services, visit the Shropshire Council website.

Rail

The 167-year-old train station is based within the centre of town, below Shrewsbury Castle. From Birmingham, Manchester or Chester the journey is around an hour or less (on a direct train) and there is a direct service between Shrewsbury and London. Plan your journey here with National Rail journey planner or Trainline.

Shrewsbury Market Hall is a 15 minute walk from the station. There is a taxi rank directly outside the station.

Bus

A host of town bus services stop outside the Market Hall on Shoplatch, including routes 1, 3, 8, 19, 21, 23, 26 and 27. Direct services are also available from Bayston Hill, Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Whitchurch, Cardington, Pulverbatch and Telford.
