Oak Cottage Flowers – the market’s sustainable florist now has a new permanent home in Shrewsbury Market Hall.
Many of you will know the talented Beccy from her pop-ups in the market hall. Well now she has a stall of her own.
Pop-in for fresh bouquets, dried flowers, plants, vases and pots including vintage. Or order bouquets online with local delivery to SY1, SY2 and SY3 or pick up from the market.
Beccy welcomes commissions for wedding and farewell flowers. And keep your eyes peeled for floristry workshops.
If you’re looking for a natural style of floristry, Oak Cottage Flowers is THE place. Beccy primarily uses in-season flowers naturally grown in Shropshire.
She is a member of Flowers From The Farm – a not-for-profit professional trade association which champions independent UK flower farmers.
Beccy sources her seasonal fresh flowers from four Shropshire growers, as well as her own allotments where she cultivates home-grown blooms. Out of season she will supplement with cut flowers from the Scilly Isles. And she only uses sustainable, biodegradable or recyclable products in her business.
Growing up in Shropshire Beccy developed a passion for the countryside and nature. Her grandmother was a florist, working from home in Castlefields, Shrewsbury.
Beccy herself has had a varied career including many years working in retail and running her own shop, but she has always taken an interest in. It was a move to an old country cottage surrounded by oak trees, seven years ago, that inspired a career change.
Drawn to sustainable floristry, Beccy trained with the Tallulah Rose Flower School based in Cumbria. And so Oak Cottage Flowers was born.
“I am in no way a traditional florist. I am a little bit different. I go for a bit more of a wild look – a loose style of floristry, a natural style of floristry,” explained Beccy.
